How Well Does Personality Predict Performance?
About whitepaper

This validation study tests whether a personality assessment can predict performance across 15 cultural and management dimensions, including communication, collaboration, accountability, critical thinking and more.  Drawing on 360° performance evaluations from 103 employees at an energy company, it examines how well personality data connects to the behaviors that matter most in a specific organizational context.

Main findings:

  • Personality predicted performance consistently across all 15 dimensions, with an average correlation of .43.
  • The strongest predictors outperformed structured interviews, often considered the benchmark for selection quality.
  • Using personality data over resumes alone translated into up to 17% more accurate staffing decisions.
  • All 15 models passed fairness testing across gender, age, and ethnicity, confirming suitability for use across diverse workforces.
